Ruger GP100: “American Steel” by Nutnfancy
Inspiring confidence and making hits. That’s the full sized, full weight Ruger GP100 .357 Magnum. This brushed stainless steel Ruger GP100 #KGP-141 is classic American Steel. As a true “Gun Totin’ Freak,” I’ve wanted one since age 10. Exiting from over a year of testing in TNP, this gun proved to be another Ruger TANK of a gun. It’s solid, reliable, and accurate…all results shown. The out-of-box trigger sucks and needs some work however. Enter Terry G from Impact Guns whose work transformed the TNP GP100 into a wicked smooth combat masterpiece; trigger now breaks at 3 lbs SA, 7.5 lbs DA and is 100% reliable. Running and gunning with this upgraded GP100 was pure enjoyment and all TNP crew fell in love with it. It’s smooth and fast and, once I got it dialed with some sight adjustments, very accurate. The current Ruger Hogue grips are perfection for me and they’re not going anywhere. But since the GP100 is so commercially successful, if you don’t like them (or the sights for that matter), aftermarket options abound (also holsters and speed reloaders). Improving upon its predecessors, the Security/Service/Speed Six, the GP100 is a stronger design utlitizing a thick frame, top strap, and dual locking pawls which anchor the 6-shot cylinder. The .327 model has a 7 shot cylinder. With practice and time, reloads can come fast to you making up for the limited rounds count. But from a purely recreational POU, the GP100 in whatever barrel length and finish suits you, is a huge win …

all three of them would defiantly be the most prepared on the show . and scootch00 woundn’t even need to put on a southern accent
Would make for a great vehicle gun, it’s legal in my state, I pay property tax on my automobiles. Im opting for the .357 686 s&w seven shot. Love the Ruger as well.

I wonder if NUTN ever bout the security six, It was the first gun i’ve shot, and found quite a few for a decently low price online, wonder if he has any interest in them?
Best handgun in the world. 4th or 5th time I have watched this video all the way through.
Just got my GP 100 two weeks ago and shot it for the first time today. Man this thing is sweet! 38 spl feels like nothing in this beast and the .357 is very manageable. Trigger is not my favorite but the triiger job you posted looks simple enough. Thanks for always putting out quality videos.
put some clear nail polish over the finished sight to seal in your work!
Look at the residue on that cylinder! You shot the crap out of that Ruger! Nice job. I am sporting the 6″ version and plan to run and gun with it soon. I am replacing the the front sight with an orange sight to improve visibility (mine is currently black). I would recommend to your viewers that if you want to do a lot of magnum shooting to get the longer barrel, but if you want to run and gun with it, get the 4″.
I saw the first part and thought “I need to practice” then you said 5 yards, I could hit that target at 100 yards, but not accurately.
Buddy of mine just got a GP100 and I got to shoot it with some P+ .38′s. Good lord this gun is sweet, especially for the money. Standard sight arrangement with a 6 inch barrel and I was nailing head targets at 30 years all day. Triggers not really that terrible, just takes some staging in DA. Not a Smith but also not super pricey.
No need for a mounted flash light, just get a good headlamp. Hands free and many times I don’t want to point my weapon to see something. My 2 cents… love the review though…
Still love my gp100
The GP-100 may be okay, but you need to get a good stainless steel Security-Six in a 6-inch configuration.
Just bought this gun today nut’n, i just want to say you and hickok45′s video help me finalize my decision! Great work love your videos, long time viewer! Now i just have to wait 10 days to get my baby!
Great review. The GP100 #KGP-141 4″ is one of my favorite revolvers! The SA/DA trigger pull improved greatly after I installed a Wolf spring kit and Trigger Shims (hammer and trigger).
bought used GP100 yesterday for $400 PPT
We loved the Ft Walton area (we lived on base and off) and had a blast there, skiing, camping, tubing, just hangin on the beach. Still go to Destin sometimes. Love that area! — Veri
I noticed you said Eglin, AFB. I’ve lived in the FT Walton beach/Valpariso area now for almost 20 years. Didn’t expect anyone would mention Okaloosa county on one of the more legitimate youtube channels. Great show by the way.
Use Remington ammo at Walmart. I’m not even joking. It’s cheaper and it’s way accurate. I seriously shot the same hole 6 times at 11 yards. It was just one giant hole. Looooove this gun. Although that PMC ammo at around 16:00 looked like it was doing pretty good too. I’ll have to check it out, if it’s not ball ammo.
I got a gp100 as my first hand gun out of all the ones that I have shot it’s the best my next will be a 1911 I recommend it all the way
Picked One of these up can’t wait to shoot it! My first 357.
Lucky me! Have 6″ blue Ruger and 4″ Colt Lawman Stainless. Didn’t they hunt Grizzly bears with .357 60 years ago? Nice shootin’ bro!
Hey NTF…any thoughts on the GP100 in the .327 Federal caliber? Thanks for the videos!
My friend’s SS Ruger Security Six is the finest handgun I have shot yet. I haven’t shot a lot of handguns but I know a gem when I shoot one. It had great accuracy, sights, and smoooth actions
You wouldn’t want to challenge me with that Security Six, no matter what pistol you had. Be it Glock or 191. Now I think the .357 was about 125gr so not real heavy, maybe 158′s. But still, even DA I shot well
I figure the GP100 is sort of like it but I’d rather have the Security Six with less shroud
so 7+1 9mm out of a pf9 is better than 6 357? The answer is no.
